Open Letter to Bill Geddie re: Joy Behar & The View
Open letter to Bill Geddie and Barbara Walters:

The. Last. Straw.
Vicious, hateful Joy Behar needs to EXIT stage left on The View PERMANENTLY. Today, during the discussion of money spent on Palin AND HER FAMILY, Joy’s snide remark "That’s putting lipstick on the pig." was beyond offensive, beyond hateful and simply beyond the pale. I repeat… Barbara was talking about Palin and her entire FAMILY. Joy was NOT attempting humor; excusing it as such would be disingenuous. It was deliberate and malignant vitriol.
And now her juvenile and nasty reaction to Bill O’Reilly, especially but not limited to his VERY accurate depiction of her on-air attitude to McCain, is more evidence of her growing unsuitability for being a part of the View panel.
Please, please… pay attention to how her anger and self-righteous hostility is worsening everyday. Her behavior across the board (no pun) is rapidly degenerating into unreasonable and unjustified viciousness. I would even venture to say she is exhibiting serious signs of emotional instability. PLEASE pay attention. She has become vile and vindictive. Why is she given free rein to spew such rancor the way she does? Joy Behar is single-handedly turning ‘The View’ into ‘The Hateful View’
For a long time her blatantly hateful and dismissive attitude towards Elisabeth has been disheartening and offensive. But anything she did previously was ‘kindness’ compared to her more recent actions and reactions. I don’t agree with everything Elisabeth says but for Joy to constantly deride, demean and belittle her with such VENOM (today is a prime example) is over the line. (And on a side note: Today Elisabeth was publicly scolded for wearing a McCain shirt on the show. That’s relevant? Compared to Joy’s daily malevolence? Think again.)
I understand that differing opinions and controversial content is good for ratings but the lop-sided ‘Views’ and the propensity for attacking anyone and everyone with *any* dissenting opinion is just too much. And Joy goes so very far beyond that, into absolute HATE, that the entire show is dragged down into a mockery of what it was.
The. Last. Straw. Take care of Joy. Please. Rein her in or retire her and do it soon.

Thank you for your open letter. Right after seeing the McCains on the View I emailed Bill Geddie about the hatred towards this man and his wife. Joy and Barbara too seem to spew hatred to anyone that does not totally agree with them. The way they acted towards Obama when he was on was embarassing, referring to Brad Pitt and calling him sexy, totally inappropriate. I watched today because I wanted to see how Bill would be treated, I must say very predictable based on this year’s shows. Joy is going to have to increase the Restalyn if she keeps that horrible scowl on her face.

Thank you for your ltr re: 10/22 “The View.” I did watch today and totally agree w/you. It reminded me why I stopped watching The View some months ago. Open forum, entertaining, educating discussion of current events? A sad, sad show for the ladies today. Where was the voice in the earpiece? Someone plz let Elisabeth finish a sentence! Or is this “The Obama View”?

Fortunately my blog is independent of any ‘Terms of Service’ like Google, Blogger, Yahoo etc so… no censors. I take a heavy hand with trolls on occasion (it is, after all, MY soapbox) but for the most part it’s censor-free zone! =)
Having said that I did edit your post with an asterick (*) simply because that’s a harsh word for women. Now… ‘raving bitches’ would have gotten my unalloyed agreement!!! =)

Thank you for this letter. I saw that show and I tried to email, but it seemed flooded. After reading this, it reminded me to send that email. I’ve been meaning to send them a letter for a long time now. This all started with Rosie. She open the door and now Joy has stuck her foot in it. They are very disrespectful of Elizabeth day in and day out. I’m most disapointed in Barbara Walters, growing up I admired her for her fairness. Remember when you never knew where a Reporter stood? I am extremely disappointed in her and this show. I used to love it. I love Elizabeth and I hate the way she is treated. Just once I’d like her to go on there and not say a word….Then just walk off and go to FOX NEWS! Now for that letter…..

The view seems to be full of so-called “comedians”. Seriously people, when was the last time any of them was the least bit funny or witty? They are washed-up has-beens who couldn’t buy a job on any other show. I’m embarrassed that they are part of my gender (or are they?)! I have refused to watch the show for a long time now, but catch nauseating glimpses on ‘The Soup’.

I started sending Bill Geddie emails every time Joy, Whoopi, Sherry and/or Barbara either bashed Elisabeth or spewed their view. I tried to send another one today after reading that Barbara thought ABC’s coverage of the election was the “most objective” but it looks like they took it down. I ended up sending one directly to abc.com.

The View on November 10 had Joy spewing again that Rush Limbaugh “needs to apologize” for calling Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel “thugs.” This is coming from the same woman who called Rush a “terrorist,” labeled the Bush administration “liars and murderers,” accused Republican presidential candidates of attending “Klan meetings,” and called former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld a “Hitler type.”
The best was when Barbara Walters stated that Rahm Emanuel could not possibly be a thug because he wanted to be a ballet dancer.
When Elisabeth tried to add some perspective on Emanuel’s Fannie Mae connections, Whoopi cut her off because they don’t yet “have all of our facts behind us.”
I’ll have to email ABC directly, because they shut down emails to Bill Geddie, and suggest they change the name of their show to “The Spew.”

There are too many talented people to waste all our time with Joy. She, and the rest, besides Elizabeth, totally think there way is always right. They refuse to let Elizabeth get a word in regarding anything. Jay Leno put her in her place last week and for that, I applaud him. I would have a hard time keeping my mouth shut! I used to watch The View religiously but since they can’t seem to let the Republicans talk, NO MORE!

Joy Blowhard called Sarah Palin an “airhead” … now if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle I don’t know what is. She also labeled Obama critics “unpatriotic”. This is the same person who blames earthquakes on global warming and could not define the term “suffrage”.

Now that the election is over, Joy Behar’s behavior and comments are still just as negative and inappropriate. This time she went after children — home schooled children. To hear what she said, try this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gq9yefHhhI
Why is she getting away with comments like this, saying that children who are homeschooled are “demented” and scared of other children. The video keeps getting taken down and then put back up. Apparently the show’s producers are trying to suppress it because it keeps getting deleted.
Demented is defined as “mentally ill; insane,” and “suffering from dementia or a loss of cognitive function.” In what stretch of the imagination is that an acceptable way to refer to children? I believe that home schooling families should organize a boycott of the show and its sponsors until Behar either apologizes or gets ousted.

Joy is so rude to people. Today the lady who had been raped — Joy was down right mean to her. Why do you not only put up with her, but act like you are afraid to cross her.? Being a comedian does not give her a license to say and do whatever she wants. If we want to hear her comedy act, we can always buy a ticket to one of her shows. I just feel so bad for the people she attacks. She won’t attack the really big stars, but little people, look out!

I stopped watching The View when the radical team, Joy, Whoopie and Sheri (Barbara included) started their liberal attack on ANYTHING conservative. If you are in any way a conservative….they act like you are completely stupid. I’m surprised they don’t go out and crucify those they don’t agree with. I finally had it when they will not let Elizabeth speak or finish anything she wants to say. The major problem is there are too many against one person. If the panel was half and half…two liberal and two conservative…it might be interesting. What we see here is what goes on everyday in schools across our country. IT”S CALLED BULLYING!!! Our school won’t allow it, WHY WOULD ABC. I can’t believe the producers allow this to go on. VOTE WITH YOUR REMOTE AND TURN THEM OFF!!!
