Tuesday Evening Rant

I was once a proud far-left (leaning) Democrat but now I'm barely a left leaning centrist. I haven't 'moved' in my ideologies and political philosophy… the Democratic Party has… or at least the vocal, active part of it.
It's not just the new path they seem to be orchestrating for the party, it's the social reforms they are advocating that I find truly dangerous. And what I want to know is how the hell, and WHY, have the Democrats jumped on this bullet train to a socialist state??? Has this been coming for a long time? Or has Obama's dreamy rhetoric of hope and change fired up an odd need for social superiority in some people… or even brought on a mass hysteria of sorts?
It's as if suddenly the 'rest' of us are being convicted of crimes we knew nothing about. I've read more about individual and systemic racism and social, financial and educational reparations in the last month than I would have ever thought possible. And reparations to whom… Blacks? The poor? Not those in middle America or Appalachia, they've already gotten their 'push' out of heart the party.
And the talk of redistribution of wealth for social reform (as if they invented the idea) is, to me, dangerous when it comes across as being some sort of weapon of vengeance.
I'm all for an effective, gradual redistribution of wealth in a *fair* and equitable manner; social programs that put the responsibility for doing the work of betterment *squarely* with the beneficiaries. But this stealing from the 'haves' to give to the 'have-nots' is social suicide. I'm definitely not one of the 'haves' and still vehemently disagree… and do not want to benefit from this kind of social reform.
So… those of us on the soon-to-be outside are guilty of … what exactly?

Found your blog today through Mike Lovell. Your site is beautiful.
I’m a Republican…I think. Is it not hard these days to find a comfortable spot into which we can place our political bodies. A strange world, indeed.

My first visit here and now you are bookmarked!
Yes, these reforms insinuate blame. I find the tone angry, disturbing and it reeks of vengeance.
This is not what I want in the Whitehouse.
And I fall somewhere between centrist and liberal when it comes to social programs.

Thanks! Still working on the ‘look’ so that changes once in awhile! I’m getting ready to allow others to contribute to the main blog or start their own, hosted here. Everyone needs a place to rant in this crazy season! =)
