Fire-Keepers

Keep the fires burning. Don’t give up, don’t give in.

Listening to Obama’s speeches it may be easy to believe but…

I can see why some people *think* [the way they do about Obama] but the bottom line is he just needs more time. He needs to understand the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the core issues at stake and that takes *years*. As they say… the devil’s in the details

When I listen, really listen, to him I have far too many concerns about his level of understanding about economics, big business, the oil markets, military defense etc. When you get past the rhetoric and to the core of his promises the *understanding*, the working knowledge, just isn’t there.

Listening to him talk about targeting independent oil companies and looking to ‘break them up’ astounds me. These independent companies (ExxonMobil, Chevron, and Conoco Phillips) aren’t the problem in the oil markets today because they control only 6% of worldwide reserves, ONLY 6% with another 11% available through leasing… yet he believes they are the problem. Should they be brought to heel and forced into doing business in more of a free market manner? Yes. But making them the primary, and almost sole, target for solving the obscene price of oil is not realistic or smart.

And he talks about raiding our strategic petroleum reserves to eliminate high prices. The SPR have a purpose. Fine, stop adding to the reserves at this time but plundering them leaves us, as a nation, extremely and publicly vulnerable to a deliberate cut-off, or major disruption, in supply. Strategically, that’s insane. They are called *Strategic* Petroleum Reserves for a reason.

Listening to Obama’s speeches it’s easy to believe. But listening to his solutions… that is eye opening.
